Murals on Main Call for Local Artists

We want a local artist to paint a mural in Rogers City’s 2024 Murals on Main Festival!

Project Summary

Rogers City Main Street will be hosting its inaugural Murals on Main Mural Festival. We are excited to partner with local businesses, national and international artists, sponsors, donors and community members for this weeklong celebration of public art. The application deadline is March 15, 2024. We would like to have a local artist from our region to participate. Murals on Main will provide all supplies and equipment for completion of the mural. The local artist selected will participate in Murals on Main along with the four National and International artists, will receive a stipend of $1000 as well as the publicity and experience of a participating artist in the festival. The eligible artist must be a resident in Presque Isle, Cheboygan, Alpena, or Montmorency Counties. The Murals on Main Festival will take place from June 10-16, 2024. The artist will need to be available that week for events and painting of the mural.

Project Description

This is a mural on the pump house next to the bike path in front of the Purple Martin in a high traffic and scenic area of Rogers City. We would like a creative use of the space that will draw in locals and visitors alike and could be a space for people to take a photo with friends, family, or fur-babies. We also want it to be a part of the landscape and be appealing to look at. The work will be of the artist’s own design with the requirement it not include offensive language or images.

Art Location Description

This mural will be on an outside wall, accessible to the public.

Budget

The mural festival will provide the paint and equipment needed to complete the mural. The artist will work with the mural festival to create the list of equipment and supplies needed in advance of the festival.

Artist Eligibility

The selected artist must be a resident of Presque Isle, Cheboygan, Alpena, or Montmorency Counties. Artist teams are eligible for the project. Artists need not have completed a public art project or mural project in the past.
